Casimir Launches Burlesque & Fondue

Casimir’s new owner continues to make changes to the restaurant with Burlesque shows on Thursday starting tonight at 10pm.  There are also plans for the conversion of the smaller side room into a 35 seat fondue restaurant in early November.

Jane Revisited

My first visit to Jane back in January was pretty good, so I jumped at the chance to check the place out again for brunch recently.  A friend was celebrating his birthday & there was 11 of us in total, meaning that I’d be able to see more of the menu.  Given that we were […]

Wine Tasting Tonight at In Vino

In Vino, one of the many excellent Italian restaurants in the East Village will be hosting a wine tasting tonight with Sol Stars: Dear Lovers Of WINE! We have brought in two new wines from Tuscany and have a chance to pour them both totally on the house. Come on in and get a glass […]

Manzo

As part of my first visit to Eataly a few weeks ago, I stumbled on Manzo & decided to get some lunch.  There are a bunch of restaurants in the sprawling store, but this one really caught my eye.  Manzo means ‘Beef’ in Italian, so by the name & the logo, you can guess what’s […]

Grand Central Oyster Bar

There are only a handful of restaurants that bring out emotion like the Grand Central Oyster Bar.  Maybe it’s the storied history, the beautiful vaulted ceilings of days gone by or the promise of delicious seafood.  I’d been wanting to go here for quite some time & it didn’t take much of an effort to […]

Rugby World Cup at Tuck Shop

I’m gonna keep this short & sweet.  Tuck Shop on St. Marks Place will be showing the 2011 Rugby World Cup match (Australia V Russia) at 10:15 tonight, immediately followed by the Aussie Rules Football Grand Final (Collingwood V Geelong) at Midnight.  Rugby, footie & meat pies… What could go wrong? Tuck Shop: 115 Saint Marks […]

IHOP

Initially I wanted nothing to do with this place, but I found myself down the block yesterday with an hour to kill so I decided to have some breakfast.  Chain restaurants (TGIF, Denny’s & the like) aren’t really my cup of tea, but I’ll admit that once I made the decision to eat here, I […]

Avenue C Braces For Impakt

Avenue C, an area of the East Village packed with quaint, tree-lined streets bars, is getting ready for more of the same.  Oktoberfest starts today & Zum Schneider opened at 11am for the celebrations to start. So put on your lederhosen & get ready to hear live music and drink a lot of beer.  If […]

Live Bait

Southern & Cajun cuisine ranks pretty high on my favorite food to eat, so I’ve been slowly trying to cross of as many restaurants in the city as I can.  This week it was Live Bait’s turn.  I’ve passed by the place a bunch of times, but never eaten there.  While researching places for lunch, […]
