East Village Eats

Food & Drink recommendations straight from the East Village, New York City

East Village Cheese

This place is one of my Favorite guilty pleasures, East Village Cheese consistently serves up the most delicious & affordable cheese ever. Don’t let the exterior (handwritten specials) scare you, inside is an amazing mecca of cheese! This is a no frills store, cash only & lacking in friendly customer service. You go in, choose […]

178 7th Street close to opening

I passed by the former Mohamed’s Falafel Star spot (178th 7th Street at Avenue B) today & was lucky enough to run into Otto, the owner of the new joint.  He told me that they should be open in 3-4 weeks & that the menu will be mainly healthy food with Eastern European influences.  He […]

50% off of Tonda! (CLOSED)

InBundles.com clued me up to a 50% off coupon for Tonda.  Formerly E.U, Tonda serves up top-notch pizza from their sick stone oven.  Other dishes include seafood, pasta & more.  $10 gets you $20 worth of food/drinks.  There’s 17 hours left so get on it! Photo via GrandLifeNYC

Cafetasia East Revisited

Cafetasia East (85 Avenue A between 5th & 6th streets) has slightly updated their 12:30-5PM Happy Hour Menu, so I’ll give you the lowdown.  I went there with my Dad a few weeks ago & as usual it wasn’t busy at all.  The first thing that we noticed was that a pint of Sapporo was […]

Carteles (CLOSED)

I finally ate at Carteles (443 East 6th Street just off of Avenue A) the Cuban sandwich & coffee shop tucked away inside Cienfuegos.  I’m looking forward to rum-inspired Cienfuegos’ full opening (the downstairs is still under construction), but I’ll admit that I was glad to check out what their kitchen has to offer.

Croxley’s

Two words; Messy Fingers.  This is what you can expect when you go to Croxley’s.  Mondays and Wednesdays are 10 cent wing nights & as the picture demonstrates things can get really messy (20 cent wings til 5 on Saturday & all day Sunday), I don’t know why they bother giving us forks anyhoo!

Rai Rai Ken

If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time then you’ll know that I’m a sucker for good Ramen which is why I love Rai Rai Ken so much.  The place is tiny & immediately reminds me of the noodle bar from Blade Runner.  It’s basically a long service bar with stools (really […]
