Drinks & Chocolate at Turkey Leg Ball 2010With Immaculate Infatuation‘s Turkey Leg Ball jumping off tonight at 7:30, I’d be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t recap last year’s awesome event that they hosted with Cooking Channel.  Back in 2010 I really wasn’t clued up that much on food event etiquette & made a few rookie mistakes (not to be repeated this year).  The event last year was on Nov 17th, so Thanksgiving was in the air (see the chocolate turkey & pumpkin soup which we’ll discuss later).  The space was awesome, with amazing views on NYC & NJ skylines.

Deviled Eggs at Turkey Leg Ball 2010While my wingman lined up for drinks (the most popular being the C’est La Vie; Oxley Gin, St Germain, lemon sour, grapefruit & fresh rosemary), I helped myself to some of the food that was on offer.  There were massive piles of Thanksgiving themed chocolate,  small bites, deviled eggs & the aforementioned Pumpkin Soup which I thought was amazing.

Food at Turkey Leg Ball 2010The one mistake we made was not noticing the upstairs room until much later on in the night.  When we finally mounted the stairs it’s like we had reached the promised land; an entire room & terraces hosted by The Macallan.  I’m a massive fan of Scotch Whiskey, so I was angry that we hadn’t found this place earlier.  Needless to say, we spent quite a bit of time up there.

I bumped into some old friends, made some new ones & finally met our hosts Chris & Andrew who run one of the best restaurant review sites in NYC.

Leftovers at Turkey Leg Ball 2010We were one of the last to leave & had an awesome time talking with the guys from Apt 4 Food & Wine who catered the even & had some hilarious (in hindsight) horror stories about organizing all of the food for the night.  There were loads of leftovers which we help to ‘dispose of’ as we chatted.  It was a great night & I’m looking forward to the 2011 event.

This year’s event (2011), with food by Union Square Events is also Sold Out.  If you got your ticket, see you there tonight.
