A look Inside Pardon My French
Pardon My French, formerly Casimir, has opened on Avenue B with a completely renovated bar in the previously under-used side room. No word on the menu as yet, but it seems that that have taken a turn away from traditional French fare (see this NYPost article), as well as a revamped cocktail list. I’ll admit […]
Restaurant Week
Ok, it might have started a few days ago & I’m obviously playing catch up, but there are some great dining options in the East Village for this year’s Restaurant Week. For those who aren’t familiar (Really? Been by a bus stop lately?), this is an annual event that gives us regular folk a chance […]
Casimir Launches Burlesque & Fondue
Casimir’s new owner continues to make changes to the restaurant with Burlesque shows on Thursday starting tonight at 10pm. There are also plans for the conversion of the smaller side room into a 35 seat fondue restaurant in early November.
Cooking Demo At Affaire
Last Thursday, Nearsay teamed up with French restaurant/lounge Affaire to host a mussels cooking demo & meetup for local bloggers. Located in a sprawling space that once housed #1 Chinese & China 1, Affaire still has some remnants of it’s Asian past while the menu is classic French.
Taste Of Nolita Recap
Last week I attended the Taste Of Nolita Food Festival (previously mentioned here) which ran from Wednesday til Friday & featured 7 restaurants & discounts at a few bars in Nolita. Luckily I had the chance to go, so I figure I’d let you know my thoughts on the event. Things kicked off at Asia […]
Changes on the horizon for Casimir?
Late last month East Village blogger EVGrieve reported that Casimir (103 Avenue B between 6th & 7th street, review here) was on tonight’s Community Board 3/SLA docket. It turns out that owner Guillaume Blestel has sold the restaurant. I spoke with some of the employees over the weekend & not much is known about the […]
Casimir now offering half portions
If you haven’t been to Casimir (103-105 Avenue B @6-7th St.) in a while & are squinting at the menu thinking you’re seeing things, trust me, you’re not. Although it’s been in effect for some time, Casimir have recently reprinted their menus with pricing for the new ‘mini’ sized dishes in green. 50% of the […]
Brunch at Belcourt
Don’t you just hate it when you plan to go somewhere to eat & then you find out that they’re closed? Well that’s what happened to a new-found foodie friend & I on Labor Day (I know, it’s a while back) when we tried to go to Vandaag (review to come). We decided on one […]
Arcane Turns 2!
Arcane, the French-Caribbean restaurant, is celebrating it’s second birthday today. I just passed by & it looked pretty packed, with party-goers sharing the sidewalk with people drinking at Zum Schneider next door. I did review the brunch there back in May (not very favorably), but I have as yet to have dinner. Anyway; Happy Birthday […]
Lina Frey
I’d been reading about Lina Frey (201 East Houston at Ludlow Street) the newest French Bistro & Creperie in the LES for some time so I decided to finally check it out for myself. Actually, I had read more about the beer selection & retractable roof than the food, so I was eager to see […]
