Tsampa
This particular area of 9th Street is packed with restaurants that I really enjoy (Yakiniku West, Village Yokocho & Otafuku, just to name a few), so after yet another failed attempt to eat at Ippudo (2 hour wait!), Tsampa beat off the competition. The ‘Zen’ decor is the first thing that strikes you, the place […]
Casimir Launches Burlesque & Fondue
Casimir’s new owner continues to make changes to the restaurant with Burlesque shows on Thursday starting tonight at 10pm. There are also plans for the conversion of the smaller side room into a 35 seat fondue restaurant in early November.
Jane Revisited
My first visit to Jane back in January was pretty good, so I jumped at the chance to check the place out again for brunch recently. A friend was celebrating his birthday & there was 11 of us in total, meaning that I’d be able to see more of the menu. Given that we were […]
Manzo
As part of my first visit to Eataly a few weeks ago, I stumbled on Manzo & decided to get some lunch. There are a bunch of restaurants in the sprawling store, but this one really caught my eye. Manzo means ‘Beef’ in Italian, so by the name & the logo, you can guess what’s […]
Grand Central Oyster Bar
There are only a handful of restaurants that bring out emotion like the Grand Central Oyster Bar. Maybe it’s the storied history, the beautiful vaulted ceilings of days gone by or the promise of delicious seafood. I’d been wanting to go here for quite some time & it didn’t take much of an effort to […]
IHOP
Initially I wanted nothing to do with this place, but I found myself down the block yesterday with an hour to kill so I decided to have some breakfast. Chain restaurants (TGIF, Denny’s & the like) aren’t really my cup of tea, but I’ll admit that once I made the decision to eat here, I […]
Live Bait
Southern & Cajun cuisine ranks pretty high on my favorite food to eat, so I’ve been slowly trying to cross of as many restaurants in the city as I can. This week it was Live Bait’s turn. I’ve passed by the place a bunch of times, but never eaten there. While researching places for lunch, […]
Kafana Revisited
I reviewed Kafana for the first time about a year ago & it has become a place that I eat at regularly. I’ll admit that I didn’t know much about Serbian food back then & I feel like I’m in a better position to talk about the dishes there. The restaurant serves up a lot […]
Nam Son Vietnamese Restaurant
I don’t eat in Chinatown very often & when I do, it’s normally at a Chinese restaurant, but I’ve passed Nam Son so many times while shopping around Grand Street that I decided to finally give it a go. I’ve been to Vietnam once & admit that I don’t know much about the cuisine. I’ve […]
