Post Office
Posted on | June 10, 2012 | No Comments
I read about Post Office on Tasting Table & Immaculate Infatuation, but it wasn’t until I realized that a good friend lived around the corner that I decided to take the trip out to BK. It was surprisingly painless to get there from the East Village (Post Office is by the Marcy Av J, M, Z stop).
It’s a small space with about a dozen tables & a long bar. Perhaps the first thing you’ll notice is the extensive whiskey selection. What you might miss is the tiny kitchen where they serve up honest, delicious food. The rotating menu consists mainly of sandwiches, soups & small plates. Don’t let that discourage you though, they don’t mess around here! Read more

Pedro’s
Posted on | June 5, 2012 | No Comments
While there are loads of Mexican restaurants in the East Village, none of them quite top the vibe at Pedro’s in Dumbo. Well worth the subway ride, I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed with your meal there. Being a Friday night, it was a bit packed, but we didn’t have to wait that long. Read more

I’m Back!
Posted on | June 1, 2012 | 1 Comment
Things have been a tad quiet lately on the East Village Eats blog lately. Mainly because I was on my Annual camping trip in Colorado over Memorial Day Weekend. 22 Guys, 3 pop-ups, 3 tents, 1 camper, 4 kegs, a full band, 2 deer, 1 moose, 3 dogs & 130lbs of meat (40 of which was bacon). I’m back for the summer & have a lot to write about, so the blog will be busy over the next few weeks. Read on if you want to know what we were eating. Read more
Alphabet City Beer Co. Opens
Posted on | May 17, 2012 | No Comments
Work began in early February of this year & Alphabet City Beer Co. finally opened today. Housed in the former CHP Hardware space, you’d hardly recognize it now. Owners Dave & Zach opened at noon today & I arrived with a few other locals to check the place out. The first thing that strikes you is the large bar area & the massive 16-foot table in the back, complete with worn-in leather armchairs (mismatched Craigslist finds) to the side. Read more

Little Town NYC
Posted on | May 16, 2012 | No Comments
I couyld eat oysters pretty much all day long, so it’s no surprise that I was looking forward to a meal with my Mom at Little Town NYC. Opened in April 2011, it’s basically a 72 seat mecca of local beef, shellfish & beer. All of the shellfish & beer are from New York State & Hudson Valley cheese also features on the menu.
Little Town NYC has an extensive beer selection from the state (20 on tap & just over 50 in bottles) as well as spirits & wines. I opted for the Capt. Lawrence Liquid Gold which is one of my favorite Pale Ales. The food menu has wings (4 different varieties), sandwiches & burgers, but we were there for oysters. Read more
