All Day Brunch & New Winter Menu @ 6th St. Kitchen
6th Street Kitchen (507 East 6th Street between Avenue A & B, my review here) will be offering an all day brunch on New Years day & have unveiled their new Winter Menu. Update; 6th Street Kitchen Ravaged by Fire.
Northern Spy Gets Some NY Times Love.
The New York Times released it’s list of ‘Inexpensive Restaurants That Stood Out in 2010‘ & Northern Spy Food Co. (511 East 12th St. between A & 1st Ave. review here) made the cut. It’s already on my list of go to restaurants in the East Village, even though I’ve only been there once (a […]
Vandaag (CLOSED)
This post is just evidence of my laziness, I ate here well before Sam Sifton & plenty of other food reporters, but I’ve only just got around to writing my review. Vandaag is a Dutch restaurant & bakery that serves dishes from Northern Europe using locally (Hudson Valley region) sourced ingredients. It’s housed in the former […]
‘Tis the Season for Delivery
Well, I meant to post this yesterday morning when conditions were a lot worse, but I guess it’s still relevant. With the ‘Great Blizzard of 2010’ causing havoc all over the East Village, it’s likely that several restaurants will be shuttered & honestly, I couldn’t fathom why anyone would want to be out in this […]
Satsko Wins Village Voice Nightlife Award
Sake Bar Satsko (my review here) has been voted ‘Best Place for Dinner & a Hangover‘ by the Village Voice & Sound of the City. Well, actually, it tied with some place called Roberta’s, but I don’t know where or what the heck that place is & I don’t really care. I’ve been singing […]
Village Yokocho
It’s funny how a bit of misfortune can turn into a good thing. I had hoped to take my Mom to Ippudo on 4th avenue for some ramen, but the place was packed to the gills, so we headed east & wound up eating at Village Yokocho. Not ramen, but we ended up enjoying ourselves.
Korilla BBQ
I’m not much of a food truck guy, but I have been loosely following the progress of the Korilla BBQ truck (@KorillaBBQ on Twitter). They don’t normally come around the East Village, but I saw a tweet that they’d be at Astor Place for dinner service so I decided that I had to go check […]
New Year’s Eve at Back Forty
One of my favorite restaurants in the East Village, Back Forty (190 Avenue B @ 12th Street, coverage here) is hosting a New Year’s Eve cocktail party. $96 (tickets available here) gets you access from 9pm on New Year’s Eve. They’ll be serving up amazing Hors d’œuvres & bringing in a whole pig & a […]
An Essential Cheesemonger
The Wall Street Journal published an article online a few days ago (link here) which features Anne Saxelby of Saxelby Cheesemongers pretty heavily. Her cheese shop (which is excellent I might add, but a bit pricey) is located at booth 17 of Essex Street Market (120 Essex Street @ Delancey). It’s an interesting article about […]
Casa Adela
Several years ago, I was going to Casa Adela once or twice a week for lunch. I don’t go as much anymore & I honestly cannot figure out why because the food there is excellent. This Puerto Rican restaurant is sparsely decorated with 6 tables nestled in between the service & storage areas. It definitely has a family feel […]
