East Village Eats

Food & Drink recommendations straight from the East Village, New York City

Little Town NYC

I couyld eat oysters pretty much all day long, so it’s no surprise that I was looking forward to a meal with my Mom at Little Town NYC. Opened in April 2011, it’s basically a 72 seat mecca of local beef, shellfish & beer.  All of the shellfish & beer are from New York State & Hudson […]

Choice Eats 2012

I’ve been to a few Food Events over the past few years, so it wasn’t my first rodeo, but nothing prepared me for the scale of this year’s Choice Eats tasting event that took place last week.  I thought I’d be clever & arrive 15 minutes early to ‘avoid the crowd’, but we were greeted […]

The Meatball Factory (Closed)

Meatballs seem to be ‘trending’ right now, so when I got an invite from McKenzie of MMMGuide to sample some of the food at The Meatball Factory, she didn’t have to ask me twice.  The ‘Factory’  opened about 3 months ago & serves salad, pizzas, fettuccine & obviously meatballs.

Bobwhite Counter

I tend to keep my ears open about new restaurants whenever possible, so after the closure of Singa’s Famous Pizza a few months ago, I was hoping that something would quickly take it’s place.  It took 10 months, but now we have a new lunch & supper spot (brunch in the works) on Avenue C.  […]

Shelsky’s Smoked Fish

My friend Peter Shelsky opened a smoked fish store in June of this year.  He took a page out of the playbooks of both Russ & Daughters and Zabar’s and set up his appetizing shop in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn.  This gave people on this side of the river a place to buy […]

Scanwiches At JS55 Gallery

I’ve been a massive fan of Jon Chonko’s art project & blog Scanwiches.  The process seems pretty simple; buy or make a sandwich, cut it in half, lay it on a scanner, scan.  Sounds easy, right, but Jon’s work is so detailed & startlingly beautiful that I’m sure it takes some time & effort. I […]

Taste Of Nolita Recap

Last week I attended the Taste Of Nolita Food Festival (previously mentioned here) which ran from Wednesday til Friday & featured 7 restaurants & discounts at a few bars in Nolita.  Luckily I had the chance to go, so I figure I’d let you know my thoughts on the event.  Things kicked off at Asia […]

Taste of Nolita Food Festival

Sort of like the Taste of 7th Street Food Festival that I’ve spoken about before, Scoop St. is bringing us a Nolita version.  Honestly, I’ll admit that I don’t know that much about restaurants in the area, but it’s not too far from the East Village & the lineup does look sick. A mere $19 […]
